This itinerary is centered around the Great Migration in the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year, you will follow the migrating herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles as they cross the Mara River or move through the Serengeti plains.
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel or lodge in Arusha.
Relax and rest after your journey or take an optional city tour of Arusha.
Overnight at a hotel in Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha – Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)
After an early breakfast, take a domestic flight from Arusha to Kogatende in the northern Serengeti, the prime location for witnessing the Mara River crossings (July–October).
Upon arrival, embark on a game drive en route to your mobile tented camp. This area is one of the best for spotting river crossings, where wildebeest plunge into crocodile-infested waters.
Spend the afternoon observing wildlife along the riverbank. Look out for predators such as lions and leopards waiting to ambush the herds.

Day 3: Full Day in Northern Serengeti – Mara River Crossings
Early morning game drive along the Mara River, the main crossing point for hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras during the migration.
Spend the day following the herds, as the timing of the crossings is unpredictable. Your guide will take you to prime locations to witness these dramatic events.
Enjoy a packed lunch in the wilderness, while you observe wildlife at waterholes or under the shade of acacia trees.
Return to camp in the late afternoon for dinner.
Overnight in the northern Serengeti.
Day 4: Northern Serengeti – Central Serengeti (Seronera)
After breakfast, head south to the central Serengeti (Seronera region), known for its year-round wildlife. Even outside of migration season, the central Serengeti offers excellent big cat sightings and resident game.
On the drive, you’ll pass through various terrains, from open plains to rocky outcrops (kopjes), which are perfect spots for lions and leopards to rest.
Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in the afternoon, followed by an evening game drive.
Return to your camp/lodge for dinner and overnight in the Serengeti.
Day 5: Full Day in Central Serengeti
Full day of game drives in the central Serengeti, focusing on big cat sightings. Lions are frequently found near the kopjes, while cheetahs roam the open plains.
You may also witness hyenas, vultures, and jackals scavenging on carcasses left by predators.
Enjoy a packed lunch at a scenic picnic spot in the Serengeti.
Continue your game drive into the afternoon, perhaps seeing hippos basking in waterholes or elephants feeding on acacia trees.
Return to your camp/lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti before departing for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
En route, you may visit Olduvai Gorge, an important archaeological site where some of the earliest human fossils were found.
Proceed to your lodge located on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views over the crater floor.
Dinner and overnight at a lodge on the crater rim.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Departure
Early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive.
The crater’s ecosystem supports an incredible diversity of wildlife, from black rhinos to large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, and zebras. It’s also a great spot to see lions and spotted hyenas.
Enjoy a packed lunch at the Ngoitokitok Springs, surrounded by hippos and birds.
In the afternoon, ascend the crater rim and drive back to Arusha for your departure.
Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
